Terms of use
These terms apply to your use of Hidje: the app at app.hidje.app, the Android app and the website hidje.app. By creating an account or joining as a viewer, you agree to them.
Hidje is provided by Pim Bos, a private individual in Harderwijk, the Netherlands (privacy@hidje.app). In these terms: "we".
1. What Hidje is
Hidje is a diary for parents. You log what happens with your baby (feeds, diapers, sleep, medication, growth, photos and more) and the app shows summaries and patterns in what you entered. You can share the data with the other parent, and part of it with family.
2. Hidje is not a medical device
Hidje does not diagnose, does not give medical advice and does not replace a doctor, nurse, dietitian or child health clinic.
- The app records what you enter and calculates with it: totals, averages, comparisons with your own child's previous days, and growth charts from published reference tables. The results are only as reliable as what was entered.
- Decisions about feeding, medication and care are made with your child's care team. Do not change feeds or medication based on Hidje.
- The diaper colour warning (white/grey, red or black) and the temperature hints are general prompts to get in touch, not a diagnosis. The reverse is also true: no warning does not mean everything is fine.
- "Worth noting" compares with your child's own previous days and points out what differs. "Hunger around feeds" lists the hunger cues you entered. Development overviews show when skills usually appear. None of these says whether something is medically right or wrong.
- Notifications (medication, feeds) are reminders. They can arrive late or not at all, for example because of your device, battery settings or an outage. Do not rely on Hidje alone for medication.
If you are worried about your child, call your doctor, nurse or hospital. In an emergency, call 112 (or your local emergency number).
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- You only enter data about a child you are the parent or legal guardian of, or for whom you have the parent's permission.
- You choose a good password and keep the family code and viewer code to yourself and the people you give them to. Anyone with a code gets access.
- Viewers don't need an email account; a parent decides who gets a viewer code and is responsible for that.
- Parents in the same family have the same rights: they can see, change and delete everything, renew codes and remove viewers.
4. What you must not do
- Use Hidje for anything other than keeping track of your own child or a child you care for.
- Upload content that is unlawful or infringes other people's rights.
- Try to access other families' data, get around security, or overload the service.
If you find a security problem, please tell us at privacy@hidje.app.
5. Your data and content
What you enter, including photos and sound recordings, remains yours. You only allow us to store it and show it to the people in your family, as far as needed to run the app. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
You can always download your data in the app (More → Backup). If the data matters to you, make your own backup regularly.
6. Free and "as is"
- Hidje is free. There are no ads and no paid features.
- Hidje is built by one person in their spare time and provided as is. We do our best to keep the app working and available, but we don't guarantee that it will always work, be free of errors, or that data will never be lost.
- We may change or remove features. For changes with a big impact, we will warn you in the app beforehand.
7. Liability
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage caused by using Hidje or by Hidje (temporarily) not working. This includes damage from decisions made based on the app, lost data, or notifications that did not arrive or arrived late.
- This does not limit our liability for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, nor your consumer rights that cannot be limited by law.
8. Ending
- You can stop at any time by deleting your account in the app (More → Account). The privacy policy explains what happens to the data.
- We may block or delete an account if someone seriously breaches these terms or misuses the service. Where possible, we will tell you first.
- If Hidje shuts down altogether, we will announce it in the app at least 60 days in advance so you can download your data. After that we delete all data.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. We will announce significant changes in the app beforehand. If you keep using Hidje after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection that the law of that country gives you. If there is a dispute, we will first try to resolve it together. If that fails, the competent court in the Netherlands decides, unless the law gives you the right to go to the court where you live.
